Went out for the first time with Captain Rooney, and the experience couldn’t have been better. David’s knowledge and dedication made for an amazing day on the water. He goes above and beyond to ensure everyone has a great time. We’ll definitely be back.

We had a great time on Captain Rooney’s charter, even with a slow start. His knowledge of halibut fishing strategies paid off, and by the end we had more than enough to feed six people. His kindness and enthusiasm made the time between catches fly by. Would definitely book again!

We were told it was a slow day, but for two guys who had never fished the Bay—or much saltwater at all—it felt incredible. David was extremely helpful getting us set up and in the water, and our half-day trip stretched well beyond five hours as he worked hard to help us reach our daily limit. That dedication says a lot about the effort he puts in. I highly recommend David’s charter, especially for those who prefer a smaller, more comfortable group. His boat maxes out at six people, making for a much more personal experience than the crowded larger boats. Add in his invaluable knowledge and experience, and you’ve got the recipe for a fantastic day on the water.

Captain David and his deckhand Aaron were outstanding! They made our day on the water unforgettable—patient, kind, and incredibly supportive while teaching us the right way to fish. They took us to the best spots around the bay to maximize our catch and even filleted our fish at the end. We couldn’t recommend them more. Thank you for such a special day!

I surprised my husband with a birthday fishing trip, and choosing Captain David Rooney was the best decision! We hit our limits on both Bass and Halibut and picked up plenty of new techniques along the way. We’ll definitely be back for another fun day on the water. Captain David was fantastic! He made the trip enjoyable for me and my two teenage boys, showing great knowledge of fishing, the best spots, timing, and techniques. Patient and accommodating, he helped us land several halibut just as he predicted—without overselling or pressuring for tips, unlike a past bad experience I had elsewhere. He also filleted our catch perfectly, wasting nothing. A true 5-star experience. We can’t wait to fish with him again!
